The Game holds nothing back as he tells the story about life in Compton during the late 80’s and early 90’s. From vivid details of his birth at “Killa King” to his father coming home off heroin and molesting his sister, set to a Bongo beat perfectly capture the atmosphere of the time. (If you were there, you know what I’m talking about.)
“Colors” is the latest single off his upcoming, October release, ‘1992.’ If you’re old enough to remember, the beat sample’s OG Ice-T‘s title track for the 1988 classic film, ‘Colors.’ With track titles like, “F**k Orange Juice” and “I Grew Up on Wu-Tang,” ‘1992‘ looks like an interesting project.
Plus, the artwork is dope. If you look close enough you can see Snoop Dogg‘s ‘Doggystyle‘ influence and scenes from the OJ Simpson chase scene and Rodney King police beating. If you’re an 80s baby from South Central, Compton, Watts, etc. I’m sure you’ll feel this one.
P.S. Check out Ice-T’s original below for good measure
