Ray Kincaid: The Orbital Frame E.P. [Review]
Ray Kincaid of Mississippi hip hop collective G.R.O.U.P. Nation is one of the few underground artists that gets premium seating in my playlist. The Orbital Frame E.P. could be best described as the musings of an outsider not looking to get in. It’s street, but not gangsta to the extreme (i.e. Schoolboy Q & Chief Keef). Deep, but not to the point where you can’t vibe out and enjoy the music because you’re too busy thinking about something said 5 minutes ago. It’s retro southern vibe, reminiscent of old school Outkast took me back to ’95 when times were a lot less complex and the music was still good. With it’s screwed hooks, MF Doom production, Tupac blurbs and Beyonce sample, The Orbital Frame E.P. is one of those tapes you’ll be proud to say you heard before he blew up.
