Jamla Records signee and North Carolina native, Rapsody clears the record that she’s not in the Illuminati, but is rather quite nice on the mic, making her a threat to other less than skilled emcees (Illuminaughty). The track was produced by musical genius and hip hop instructor, 9th Wonder, with a Brian Petchers directed visual. The minimalistic, black and white visual features former Duke freshman and #2 NBA draft pick Jabari Parker.
This track is the truth, when it comes to production, lyrics and realness. Why every time a black person makes it, they gotta be part of the Illuminati. Can’t we be great without selling our souls and requiring outside help from mysterious secret societies?
Sure, somebody can put you on, but all the underground artists I know of that are running things right now, put in work for years before they made it. Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj and Drake all were poppin on the underground scene before they got radio play. But musically uneducated people only see them as an over night success. Maybe that’s why so many people are trying to be rappers these days, because they think that it’s an easy come up that doesn’t require hard work or effort on their part. Or maybe they think they’ll just put out some bs to gain the attention of the Illuminati so they can send them their application in the mail. Who knows.
