James Fauntleroy: Mo’nin
Cali native, singer/songwriter, president of 1500 or Nothin’ and Cocaine 80s member, James Fauntleroy released another acoustic track, Mo’nin with production by Happy Perez. This summer he’s blessed us with amazing tracks such as I Dont Wanna Be Alone and Children Of The Love. If you don’t know who James Fauntleroy is by now, he’s written for Ciara, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake. He’s also provided vocals for G.O.O.D. Music’s Clique track and Nipsey’s Hussle’s Crenshaw album and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail.
I fux with James because you can tell that he’s not in it for the money or fame but rather for the love of music. The dude’s talent speaks for itself. I usually don’t like acoustic tracks but when the songwriting and vocals are this good, you don’t need a banging beat to vibe out.
In today’s industry where everything is so explicit to the point where you don’t have you think about what’s being said, it’s refreshing to hear something that stimulates your inner intellect and gets you so involved in the storytelling that you forget where you are. It takes me back to the days where you could be singing about the nastiest stuff in the world and nobody would know unless they were up on their metaphor game. Think The Isley Brothers and Prince. Stay tuned for his next project, The Coldest Summer Ever set to release later this year.
