Instead of Twitter preaching and Facebook sermons, Jacob Waddy was out there on the front lines fighting for what he believes in, as seen in his latest visual, Mentor. The 3 minute, Jordan produced track gets into the lack of positive role models in today’s society and the struggles of growing up in such a society.
I can fux with a track like this because like Jacob, I too grew up with a lack of positive role models. The main people I was looking up to were those on TV and hip hop albums promoting the fast and ignorant lifestyle. Which is why I’m still correcting mistakes I made over a decade ago. Thank God I have a strong mind and was able to see it is for what it is though.
Shit, it’s still times today (at 30 years old) that I feel tempted to fall back into that lifestyle because they make it seem all too enticing. So, I can only imagine what kids of today are going through with the ignorance of today’s music, reality TV shows and social media to boot. So, shoutout to Jacob Waddy for speaking on issues others are afraid to because they don’t want to take a dent to their wallet and/or reputation.
