I initially ran across Dej Loaf on Instagram, where her unique style stood out to me the most. I had no idea she was a rapper or had co-signs from Drake and Wiz Khalifa until about a day later when I saw various links to Try Me on my Twitter feed from the likes of The Fader, 2DopeBoyz and Revolt TV. So, you know I had to check it out. And you know what? I loved it.
Try Me has that late 90’s No Limit Records, gritty, dirty south feel to it even though she’s from Michigan. I can’t wait until Dej Loaf drops some more fire later this year with her upcoming mixtape. Until then I’ll just keep this on repeat.
